Hawks Fall to Rider in Nonconference Action

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Rider University scored multiple runs over the first four innings and claimed a 14-4 win over the Monmouth University baseball team on Friday afternoon.

Rider took advantage of a first inning home run and grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the contest.

A pair of RBI doubles in the second inning and a two-run home run in the third inning pushed the Rider advantage to 7-0.

The Broncs scored two more in the fourth and took a 9-0 lead.

The Hawks got on the board in the fifth as Chris Walsh led off with a triple to right center and scored on a Rider error.

In the seventh, Nick Lovarco ripped a one-out triple to right center and scored on Jimmy Bruno's base knock. Bruno came around to score on Colin Richter's double in the frame. The Hawks capped the scoring in that frame as Graedon Finarelli came through with a two-out pinch-hit single, that made it a 9-4 game.

Rider scored five more runs over the final two innings and closed out the 14-4 win.
