Gigi Gamble’s Big Night Earns CAA Player of the Week Honor

March 09, 2026

RICHMOND, Va. – Monmouth University women's basketball junior guard Gigi Gamble was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

Gamble exploded for a career-high 41 points in Monmouth's 83-77 win over Towson on Thursday to close the regular season. It's her first career 40-point outing and the second-highest single game output by a Hawk in program history, only behind Sandra Cook's 42 points versus Wagner in 1988.

Gamble shot 14-of-20 from the field including 6-of-7 from three across a full 40 minutes. She paced her scoring evenly throughout the night, starting with 21 points in the first half and adding 20 in the second. The 41 points are the most by any CAA player this season and the 11th most in Division I. Following her big night, Gamble's scoring average jumped up to 14.7 points per contest, which would be the most by a Hawk since 2011-12.

Gamble and the Hawks enter the 2026 CAA Women's Basketball Championship as the league's No. 5 seed. Monmouth awaits the winner of No. 12 Northeastern and No. 13 UNCW and will play Thursday, March 12 at 2:30 p.m. on FloCollege.
