VILLLANOVA, Pa. Monmouth softball dropped a 10–2 game in five innings to Villanova Wednesday afternoon at the Villanova Softball Complex.

Monmouth opened the scoring in the top of the first inning when Ella Stevinson drove in Dominique Lopez for the game's first run. It would be the Hawks' only lead of the afternoon.
Villanova responded quickly, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning to take control of the game.

Lopez extended her hitting streak in the top of the second inning with a single to right field that brought Gianna Stern home, cutting the deficit to three runs and giving Monmouth its second run of the day.

The Wildcats continued to build momentum, adding three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Villanova later scored one run in the fourth and another in the fifth to secure the 10–2 run-rule victory.
