HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.  – Monmouth women's basketball erased a 14-point first-quarter deficit and closed the game on a dominant fourth-quarter run to secure a 59–54 comeback victory over Hofstra on Friday night at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.

Divine Dibula converted a layup with 4:44 remaining to give Monmouth a 47–46 advantage, and the Hawks never relinquished the lead from that point on. Despite holding the lead for less than five minutes total, Monmouth delivered when it mattered most.

Gigi Gamble led the way offensively for the Hawks, scoring a team-high 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field.

After being limited to just four points in the opening quarter, the Hawks settled in defensively and began chipping away in the second. Monmouth outscored Hofstra 20–8 in the period, forcing turnovers and capitalizing on second-chance opportunities to pull within two at halftime.

Hofstra briefly regained momentum in the third quarter, but Monmouth remained within striking distance. Trailing by four entering the final 10 minutes, the Hawks saved their best basketball for last.

Monmouth opened the fourth quarter on a decisive 10–0 run, turning defense into offense. The Hawks shot better than 50 percent in the final period and went 8-for-9 from the free-throw line down the stretch to seal the victory.

Monmouth forced 25 Hofstra turnovers and converted them into 25 points, while dominating the fourth quarter by a 22–9 margin to complete the comeback.
