BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Monmouth Men's Lacrosse rallied with five fourth-quarter goals but fell just short in a 9-8 loss at LIU on Saturday afternoon in Brookville, N.Y.
The Hawks erased a four-goal deficit in the final period and tied the game with 1:01 remaining on
Connor Gorman's second goal of the contest before LIU responded with the decisive goal moments later.
Monmouth struck first when
Nick Teets scored off an assist from
Matt Porazzo at the 7:13 mark for the only tally in the first quarter – marking the first time the Hawks held an opponent scoreless in a period since at Hampton of last season (Mar. 29, 2025).
Landon Parker opened the second with an unassisted goal to push the advantage to 2-0 with his first goal of 2026. However, LIU responded with five consecutive goals to end the half to lead by three at the break.
The Sharks extended their lead to 6-2 in the third before
Connor Gorman broke a 20+ minute goal drought by the Hawks late in the quarter, but LIU added another goal to push its lead back to four entering the fourth.
Teets kicked off the scoring in the final stanza, and after a response by the Sharks, the Hawks ripped off four straight goals to tie the game at eight – coming from

Brendan Dundas,
Riley Chester and Gorman. Despite being beat late,
Dylan Cadigan kept the Hawks in the game from start to finish making a career high 14 saves.
