WALLINGFORD, Conn. – The Monmouth University women's golf team finished fifth at the Quinnipiac Classic, hosted by Quinnipiac at The Farms Country Club Monday and Tuesday.
The Hawks carded 23 birdies over the 54-hole event, finishing fifth in the 10-team field with an average round score of 315.3. Monmouth's fifth-place finish marked its fifth top-five team result over the past three seasons and its first since the Navy Fall Invitational in October 2025.
Sophomore
Alli Engart led the Hawks for the fourth consecutive event to open the season, placing sixth overall. The Pennsylvania native earned the third top-10 finish of her career and highlighted her tournament with an even-par 36 on the front nine in Round 2.
Piper Smith made an immediate impact in her first collegiate event, finishing 11th individually while recording six birdies. The Hawks also earned 4.35 NCAA points, their highest total of the season. Monmouth's 315.3 scoring average per round was nearly four strokes better than its average at the same course last season, when the Hawks finished seventh of 11 teams.
