WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth women's basketball junior
Gigi Gamble was named the CAA Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
Gamble earned her second weekly honor of the season and first solo award after previously being named CAA Co-Player of the Week on Jan. 5. The Somerset, N.J. native delivered an outstanding week for the Hawks, averaging 26.0 points per game across two victories.
In a gritty 56-53 win over Towson on Jan. 16, Gamble proved to be the difference, pouring in a game-high 22 points while adding three assists. She also made a decisive impact on the defensive end, locking down Towson's leading scorer, India Johnston, on the game's final possession.
Gamble followed that performance with a dominant outing in a 72-31 win over Campbell, scoring a career-tying 30 points on 12-of-17 shooting from the field. She also matched her career high with six three-pointers. Gamble reached the 30-point mark in just 29 minutes of action, nearly outscoring the Camels herself.
Monmouth's 31 points allowed were the second-fewest by an opponent in program history.
Gamble and the Hawks return to action on Sunday, Jan. 25, hosting Northeastern at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast on FloCollege.
