Jakob Friedman factored in the scoring for both goals as the Monmouth University men's soccer team battled for a 2-1 win at La Salle University on Tuesday night.Â

Making his first career start in goal,
Herman Johnsen logged a pair of saves in the first 10 minutes of the contest for Monmouth.Â

The Hawks broke through in the 28th minute as Monmouth was awarded a corner kick. Friedman inserted the ball, and a perfectly placed pass found
Patrick Osiecki, who headed it home for the 1-0 lead.Â

Johnsen made another solid stop in the final minute of period which sent the Hawks into the break with a 1-0 edge.

The two teams traded shots to start the second half before the Hawks connected in the 66th minute. Friedman lofted a deep shot from near the Monmouth bench for his first goal of the season and a 2-0 advantage.Â

La Salle got one back just after the restart as Sean Yurgel scored at 66:04.Â

A pair of saves from Johnsen and a team save from Monmouth helped the Hawks close out the 2-1 win.
