Fatumata Djaló Signs with Monmouth Women’s Basketball

May 01, 2025

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University Women's Basketball Head Coach Cait Wetmore has announced the signing of Ole Miss sophomore transfer Fatumata Djaló to the 2025-26 roster.

Djaló appeared in 16 games for Ole Miss, helping contribute to the 12th Sweet 16 appearance for the Rebels in their program history. She scored her first collegiate basket in her first career game versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Nov. 10, 2024.

Djaló has been a mainstay on the national circuit for Team Portugal from 2021-24, averaging a career best 7.8 points per contest over 27 games in 2023-24. At the U20 Women's Eurobasket Championships in Lithuania, she posted a team best 10.0 points per game, including a 13-point outing in Portugal's 16-point victory over Serbia. In addition to leading her country in scoring during the tournament, Djaló also contributed as her team's second-leading rebounder and third-leading assist member.

Following a silver medal finish with Portugal in the 2022 Eurobasket Division B Championships, where Portugal finished with a 6-1 record, Djaló was the squad's second-leading scorer at the 2023 Championships with 11.4 points per game. She poured in an impressive 20 points versus Finland and finished first on the team in steals and second in assists at the event.

"Fatumata comes from an elite program at Ole Miss; a Sweet 16 team this year," Wetmore said. "She's been training alongside some of the best in the country and has gotten great experience with her national team as well. We are really excited for her to join the squad."
