Hawks Power Their Way to Win Over Princeton

FINAL SCORE
Monmouth 13 (16-17)
Princeton 3 (7-23)

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Harry Padden and Casey Caufield combined to go 5-for-6 with five runs scored and led the Monmouth University baseball team to a 13-3 win over Princeton University in seven innings on Wednesday afternoon. The game was called in the bottom of the seventh due to weather concerns.

The Hawks wasted little time in getting on the board in this one. Padden scored the game's first run as Caufield stole second and there was an error on the play. Caufield crossed the plate on Chris Andrews' sac fly. Aidan Bretschneider added a two-run double in the frame for a 4-0 advantage.

Princeton got one back in the top of the second before a sac fly from Bretschneider in the third gave the home team a 5-1 lead.

Monmouth pushed its lead to 7-1 in the fourth as Padden and Caufield scored on a wild pitch and a passed ball, respectively.

The Hawks sent eight men to the plate in the fifth inning and scored four times for an 11-1 lead. Highlighting the action in that inning were RBI singles from Kenny Noe and Caufield.

The Hawks tacked on two more in the sixth as Padden drew a bases loaded walk and Caufield added another RBI single.

Princeton scored two in the top of the seventh and made it a 13-3 game. The Hawks had the first two batters in the seventh reach before the game was called.
