West Long Branch, NJ – Ty Caffarelli scored three goals for the fifth time in the last six games, but Monmouth University Men's Lacrosse was edged out late by Towson University, 12-10 Saturday at Kessler Stadium.
Caffarelli's late first-quarter goal send the Hawks to a 3-2 lead, but Towson won the second 4-1 to take a 6-4 lead to the break. Monmouth got it back within one at 7-6 on Nick Teet's tally at 10:10 of the third, but three in a row for the Tigers gave them their largest lead at 10-6.
Two late third quarter goals had the Blue and White within two, and MU scored the first two of the fourth, including the game-tying goal from
Ryan O'Rourke with 6:31 remaining. Towson's Alex Roussel scored two in 54 seconds to put the visitors on top by the eventual final score of 12-10.
