April 29, 2025

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University Women's Basketball Head Coach Cait Wetmore has announced the signing of transfer guard Gigi Gamble to the 2025-26 roster.

Gamble was named the 2024-25 NJCAA Division II Women's Basketball Player of the Year playing for CCBC Essex, where she averaged 23.4 points, 3.0 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 2.0 steals per contest. She led the country with a 45.4% three-point field goal percentage and shot 52.3% from the floor overall, leading her the Knights to a 33-2 overall record and third-place finish at the national championship tournament. She broke the championship record for most three-pointers in a single game with 10 in a 53-point performance, one point shy of the tournament's single-game record. Her historic season saw her finish as the new CCBC Essex single-season program record holder for points per game, field goal percentage and three-point percentage.

Before Gamble was a 2024-25 NJCAA Division II All-America First Team, All-Tournament Team, and Region 20 All-Region Team member, she was a standout freshman at Kean University in 2023-24. The New Jersey native finished third in the NJAC in scoring with 18.1 points, just behind Damaris Rodriguez's 20.0 while she was playing at NJCU. At the season's conclusion, he brought home a variety of accolades including honors for All-NJAC First Team, NJAC Rookie of the Year, All-ECAC Division III Second Team, MET Writers Association All-Star, D3hoops.com All-Region Rookie of the Year, and D3hoops.com All-Region Second Team.

"Gigi is incredibly fun to watch, and I can't wait for our fans to get that chance," Head Coach Cait Wetmore said. "She plays with a lot of joy and emotion. She is a dynamic scorer and comes from a winning program. Gigi knows how to win and can fill it up."
