Ryan Mealy tossed a complete game shutout to lead the Monmouth University baseball team to a 13-0 win over North Carolina A&T in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) action on Sunday.

Monmouth got on the board in the top of the first which gave Mealy some early support.
Casey Caufield singled and scored on a wild pitch for the 1-0 edge.

Mealy was in control from the start, as he retired the first nine Aggies he faced and did not allow a hit till a single in the fourth.Â

After adding a run in the top of the fourth, Monmouth got two more runs in the top of the fifth as
Jay Bant launched a two-run home run to right center for a 4-0 lead.Â

Mealy continued to handle his business on the mound, as the Aggies had just one base runner reach third in the game and that came in the fifth.Â

At the plate, the Hawks added a single run in the sixth and the eighth for a 6-0 lead in the game.Â

The Hawks broke things open in the top of the ninth as they sent 10 batters to the plate and scored seven runs for a 13-0 lead.
Wyatt Hunt crushed his first career home run, a three-run shot, in the frame to highlight the action.

Mealy retired North Carolina A&T in order in the bottom of the ninth to close out the win.

- Monmouth leads the all-time series, 3-2 after capturing the series finale.Â
- The Hawks improved to 12-2 on the year when Monmouth scores 10 or more runs in a game.Â

Ryan Mealy's 10 strikeouts were the most by a Monmouth pitcher this season and the most since Alex Barker had 11 in 2023. It's also the fifth time this season a CAA pitcher has had 10 or more strikeouts in a game.Â
- Mealy threw the first complete game by a Hawks' pitcher since 2021. It's the first nine inning complete game by a Hawk since Tyler Ksiazek in 2019.
- It was Monmouth's first shutout since Apr. 28 of last year against Stony Brook.

- Monmouth hit three home runs in the game. It was the third time this season, the Hawks have hit at least three home runs in a game.Â

Chris Walsh had his second while
Wyatt Hunt connected on his first career home run.
- Hunt's four RBIs were a career-high for the sophomore third baseman.

Andrew Schmid dropped his CAA leading 10th sac bunt of the season.Â
- Bant finished with three RBIs and is the first Hawk with 40 or more RBIs in a season since
James Harmstead and Dixon Black did so in 2022.

Ryan Mealy moved to 4-0 on the year with the complete game shutout as he sprinkled six hits over nine innings and did not walk a batter.Â
- Sean Duke took the loss for the Aggies as he went two innings and allowed one run.
