Monmouth Falls to Hofstra on Senior Day

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth University men's lacrosse team fell in an early hole and couldn't keep pace with Hofstra, falling 15-9 on Saturday afternoon at Kessler Stadium.

Monmouth pulled within 3-2 late in the first quarter, with Sean Ketchen and Luke Cole each finding the back of the net before Hofstra took control with a big second quarter, outscoring the Hawks 5-1 to build a 9-3 halftime lead.

Monmouth found its stride in the second half, led by Brendan Dundas, who registered a hat trick and four assists. Monmouth was able to get back within four after a Dundas goal early in the fourth that made it 12-8, but Hofstra responded with back-to-back goals to put the game out of reach.

Tommy Heller made nine saves, while Monmouth outshot Hofstra 50-43, but the Hofstra goalie came up big with 17 saves to secure the win.
