Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Time Runs Out on Monmouth's Furious Late-Game Rally vs. Bryant

West Long Branch, NJ - Monmouth's fierce fourth-quarter rally ended one goal short in Saturday's non-conference women's lacrosse game against America East member Bryant.

The Hawks out-scored visiting Bryant by a 6-0 margin over the final 9:46, but time ran out with the home team trailing, 12-11.

Following up Wednesday's four-goal effort against Rutgers, Shea Berigan was sensational down the stretch on Saturday. After sparking the Hawks' late-game surge by assisting on back-to-back goals that cut the deficit to 12-7, Berigan tallied a natural hat trick within a 1:52 span. She finished with four goals on six shots.

Danielle McNeely scored her second goal of the day to pull Monmouth within 12-11 as 1:00 remained on the clock.

The Hawks controlled the ensuing draw and McNeely fired a shot on goal with 00:15 left but Bryant's Sam Centofante turned it aside as the final seconds ticked away.

Monmouth's ability to win at the X allowed it to claw back from a seven-goal deficit. After Bryant's Emily DeGeorge scored to make it 12-5, the Hawks won six of the final seven draws. Kate Carolonza earned three of the victories.
