FINAL SCORE

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Two Hawks finished in double figures in a hard-fought battle Thursday afternoon, but Monmouth women's basketball fell to Howard, 57–44, at the OceanFirst Bank Center.

Freshman Kathy Kersaint, making the first start of her career, posted her first collegiate double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Alexis Andrews led the Hawks offensively, scoring a season-high 15 points.

The game remained tight through a low-scoring first half. Howard held a narrow 13–12 lead after the opening quarter and outscored Monmouth 9–6 in the second to take a 22–18 advantage into halftime.

The Hawks struggled to find their rhythm early, converting just four field goals in the first half.

Howard opened the third quarter with three three-pointers in the first four minutes to briefly take a nine-point lead.

A layup by Zennia Thomas in the final 30 seconds of the quarter extended the Bison's lead to 41–29 entering the fourth.

The Hawks surged with a 9-0 run to start the final frame, trimming the deficit to one, but Howard answered immediately with a decisive 12-0 run to seal the win.
