Monmouth Drops Senior Day Matchup to Georgetown

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth University women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-7 decision to visiting Georgetown on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at Kessler Stadium.

After Monmouth leveled the score at 2-2, a 5-0 Georgetown run covering the first and second quarters broke the game open. The Hoyas never trailed in the eventual 11-goal win.

A bright spot for the Hawks was the play of goalie Katie Sullivan, who equaled the Monmouth program record with 22 saves.

The Hawks recognized their seven seniors prior to the contest.
Lily Ivanovich, Ali Styba, Ella Spears, Taylor Charpentier, Rachel Strazdins, Mya Brock and Liv Fanelli each appeared in the starting lineup and were recognized for their contributions to the program.
Georgetown leads the all-time series against Monmouth, 3-0.

Numbers Crunch
Katie Sullivan's 22 saves tied the Monmouth program record set by Monica Johnson against Stony Brook on March 13, 2008.
Ella Spears, Mya Brock and Danielle McNeely each scored twice in the game.
Spears has five goals this year, Brock has 31 and McNeely has 26.
Caroline Brennan has a team-high 39 goals this season after scoring once in the game.
Brock, Brennan and Taylor Charpentier each added assists for the Hawks. 
Sophia Ianno had three draw controls to lead Monmouth.
Sullivan also had a team best three ground balls in the game.

Monmouth closes its 2024 season next Saturday at Delaware. Opening draw from Newark, Del. is set for 12:00 and the game will be broadcast live on FloSports.
