WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth University women's lacrosse team bounced back in a big way with a 16-8 victory over visiting Campbell on Sunday afternoon at Kessler Stadium.
Danielle McNeely's eight-point afternoon paved the way for an offensive outburst that included her four-goal performance, a hat trick by
Caroline Brennan and two goals each from
Mya Brock,
Maddie Flynn,
Sophia Lymberis and
Shea Berigan.
It was Campbell that got out to a fast start with three of the game's first four goals, before Monmouth responded with a run of five straight to take a 6-3 advantage. The lead ballooned to 9-4 early in the second half before Campbell pulled within three with 13:54 remaining.
The Hawks answered by scoring the next six goals over a six-minute stretch to put the game out of reach and eventually came away with the eight-goal triumph.Â

"This was exactly what we needed. We needed good momentum and we needed a fun win coming off a hard loss on Friday night. Building some momentum here as we close out the regular season is super important and I thought they did an excellent job of grinding and competing for 60 minutes and I am really proud of them."

The matchup was the first ever meeting between Monmouth and Campbell.
Numbers Crunch
Danielle McNeely's eight points tied her career high. McNeely also equaled her career high with four goals and set a new personal best with 24 goals on the year.
McNeely also led the Hawks with five draw controls in the game.
Caroline Brennan has a team-high 38 goals this season after scoring a first-half hat trick.
Mya Brock scored twice to increase her season total to 29 goals.Â
Maddie Flynn and
Shea Berigan each have 16 goals in 2024 after scoring two goals in the win.
Sophia Lymberis had two goals, both in the fourth quarter, giving her seven on the season.
Katie Sullivan made 11 saves in goal for Monmouth.
Caleigh Shore scored her third goal of the year.
Mary Kate George had a team-high three caused turnovers.Â
Monmouth outshot Campbell 33-25, including 26-19 in shots on goal.
