CHERRY HILL, N.J.  – The Monmouth University women's rowing team took part in its first regatta of the spring semester at the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River on Sunday morning.

After Saturday's racing was postponed, Monmouth competed in a condensed and strong field of collegiate programs. The Hawks finished ahead of George Mason in their Varsity 4+ heat, topped Drake in the Second Varsity 8+ heat, and also had faster times than both those schools as well as Dayton and Army West Point in the Varsity 8+ race.

It marked the first time in program history that we lined up in the three NCAA Championship categories and raced the top boats from a number of outstanding programs. We learned a lot about the progress we have made and what we need to build on. It's great to see our lineups getting into the thick of good racing only two years into it."
