Drexel Evens Series as Monmouth’s Comeback Falls Short

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Drexel Dragons evened up the weekend series at one game apiece as they defeated the Monmouth University Softball Team, 7-6, in Philadelphia on Saturday.

Drexel jumped out to a 5-0 lead through two innings, but Ana Rodriguez (2-for-3, BB) cut the deficit to three on a two-run single in the top of the third. Bri Lawson (3-for-5, 2 R) added her own two-run knock in the fourth, and Devin Coia tied the game later that inning by drawing a bases loaded walk.

After adding a run on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the fourth, as well as a second one on a double in the fifth, the Dragons took a two-run lead heading into the seventh. Lawson drove in Monmouth's sixth run on a RBI groundout, but the Hawks left the tying run in scoring position.

NOTES & NUMBERS
- Bloss recorded her second three-hit game of the season, while Bri Lawson notched the second of her career.
- Lawson set a new career high with 10 RBI on the season.
- Ana Rodriguez brings her season RBI total up to seven.
- Devin Coia drew her 11th free pass of the year.
