WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Monmouth University women's lacrosse team suffered an 18-8 defeat to No. 15 Stony Brook on Friday afternoon at Kessler Stadium.
The Hawks got an early start against their third nationally-ranked opponent this year with three straight goals in the first quarter. Stony Brook responded by scoring seven of the next eight goals and held a 7-4 lead after the first 15 minutes.
Maddie Flynn scored a hat trick in the first quarter of the game to lead Monmouth's offensive effort.
