WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – After leading the Hawks to a 2-0 week to close out the regular season, Monmouth University freshman guard
Rosalie Mercille was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week by league officials.Â

Mercille was honored for the first time in her career and becomes the second Hawk to earn weekly honors this season (
Ariana Vanderhoop-Feb. 26).

Mercille averaged 15.5 points per game with eight made three-pointers while helping the Hawks extend their current win streak to seven straight games and their road win streak to 12 straight games.Â

On Thursday night in the 70-64 win at Towson, Mercille helped key the Monmouth comeback as she matched her career-high with 20 points. She scored 14 of her 20 points after the half as the Hawks battled back. She shot 60% from the field and knocked down five three-pointers. Mercille also added two rebounds and an assist in the game.Â

In Saturday's win over UNCW, Mercille chipped in 11 points as she knocked down three more three-pointers. In that game she added two rebounds and a steal.

For the season, Mercille is contributing 6.4 points per game and ranks second on the team with 35 three-pointers made. She has scored in double figures in back-to-back games and six times this season. She is also adding 2.1 rebounds per game with 24 assists.Â

Mercille and the Hawks will be back in action on Friday, Mar. 15 when the CAA Quarterfinals get underway.
