HALL POWERS HAWKS TO DOUBLE OT WIN OVER AGGIES

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Senior Jania Hall scored a career-high 21 points, including 12 in overtime to lead the Monmouth University women's basketball team to an 80-76 double overtime comeback win at North Carolina A&T in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play on Sunday.
 
The Hawks won their 10th straight road game and moved into fourth place in the CAA standings with the win. 
 
The Aggies had the hot shooting hand as they scored the first nine points of the game and led 21-7 after one. 
 
North Carolina A&T scored four of the first six points in the second period and took its largest lead of the game, 25-9 with 7:44 to go until the half. A 13-0 run cut the Hawks' deficit to three, 25-22 with 1:54 showing on the clock. Ariana Vanderhoop had five in that stretch. The Aggies eventually took a 28-24 lead at the break. 
 
North Carolina A&T scored the first six points of the third period and pushed its lead to 34-24. A three-pointer from Kaci Donovan at 4:24 pulled the Hawks to within one, 35-34. The two teams continued to battle before a jumper from Vanderhoop made it a 44-39 game with 10 minutes to play in regulation. 
 
The two teams traded baskets to start the fourth period. North Carolina A&T used an 8-0 run to take a 54-45 lead with 4:44 left in the stanza. A pair of free throws from Rosalie Mercille at 4:42 jumped started an 11-2 run by the Hawks to close out the period and tied the game at 56-56. That run was capped by an off balance three-pointer from Kaci Donovan with five seconds to play to tie it. 
 
The first overtime session saw both teams go back-and-forth. Hall drained a triple with 22 seconds left to tie the game at 63-63. Both teams went 1-for-2 from the foul line in the final 15 seconds and the Hawks and Aggies headed to a second overtime tied at 64-64. 
 
The Aggies scored six of the first 11 points in the second overtime and led 70-69 with 3:09 on the clock. Hall scored seven points in a minute plus span, which gave Monmouth a 76-70 lead with 28 seconds to play. North Carolina A&T cut the Hawks lead to two, 78-76 with four seconds left. Vanderhoop hit a pair of free throws with two seconds left to close out the win.

- Monmouth picked up its first win in three tries against North Carolina A&T. 
- The Hawks ran their road win streak to 10 straight games. Monmouth continues to extend its own school record and remains tied for the fourth longest road win streak in the country.
- It was the first time the Hawks played double overtime in a game since the 2014-15 season.
- Jania Hall's 21 points were a career-high for the senior and the fifth time this season a Hawk has scored 20 or more points in a game.
- Sandrine Clesca scored a career-high 17 points in the contest. It was her fifth game this season in double figures. 
- Ariana Vanderhoop scored 10 points in the game. It was her 11th game in double figures this season. 
- Belle Kranbuhl finished with 10 rebounds, it was her second straight game and fifth game this season with double digit rebounds. 
- Hall, Clesca and Vanderhoop combined to go 22-for-22 from the foul line in the game. Hall led the way as she was a perfect 11-for-11. It's the most most free throws hit by a Hawk under head coach Ginny Boggess and tied for 16th most in single-game history. She is the first Hawk since 2012 to hit 11 or more free throws in a game.

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Monmouth shot 33.3% from the field in the game while the Aggies posted a 36.6 field goal percentage. The Hawks shot 45.5% in the overtime sessions to clinch the win. 
- Both sides hit eight three-pointers in the contest. 
- Monmouth was 28-for-30 from the foul line, including 12-for-13 in the overtime sessions. The 28 made free throws are the most made free throws in a game under head coach Ginny Boggess. 
- North Carolina A&T out rebounded the Hawks, 54-48 in the contest. 
- Monmouth had eight blocks in the game as five different Hawks recorded at least one rejection. It was the eighth time this season the Hawks have recorded eight or more blocks in a game.
- The game featured nine lead changes and seven ties. 
- Monmouth scored 24 points on fast breaks in the contest.
