WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – For the third consecutive season, a Monmouth University football student-athlete has been named the Coastal Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Year as quarterback
Derek Robertson secured the honor. Robertson was one of nine Hawks recognized by the conference, it was announced Tuesday.
Robertson, who was also named a finalist for the Stats Perform Walter Payton Award earlier in the day, led the FCS in total passing yards (3,937) and passing yards per game (328.1) in 2024. He set the Monmouth single-season records for both passing yards and passing touchdowns with 31, which ranked third in the FCS. The team captain finished the regular season with 283 completions on 435 attempts, a 65.1% completion rate, with 31 touchdowns and only six interceptions. Robertson was also the nation's leader in total offense per game (325.3). In addition, he had at least one touchdown pass in every game, including six games with three or more touchdowns. Robertson's record-breaking season included a career-high 536 passing yards in the win at No. 20/18 Stony Brook (11/23). He was also named CAA Offensive Player of the Week in consecutive weeks to end the season.
Joining Robertson on the First Team All-CAA is running back
Sone Ntoh, who had a historic season of his own. Ntoh set a new Monmouth single-season rushing touchdowns record with 25 and led the FCS in both rushing touchdowns and total touchdowns (26). The team captain scored at least one touchdown in every game and averaged 4.5 yards per carry, totaling 487 rushing yards. Ntoh was a consistent force for the Hawks, highlighted by him earning CAA Offensive Player of the Week honors following a five touchdown outburst against Fordham.
Wide receiver
Josh Derry earned Second Team All-CAA honors after totaling 60 receptions for 917 yards and five touchdowns. Derry ranked eighth in the FCS in receiving yards per game (91.7) and averaged six receptions per game, which ranked second in the CAA. He had three 100-yard games, including a career day in the victory at Maine. Derry amassed 227 yards and two touchdowns, with a Monmouth record 94-yard TD catch against the Black Bears which earned him CAA Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Offensive lineman
JT Cornelius earned Second Team All-CAA honors after starting every game, including nine at right tackle and three at left tackle. Cornelius played a key role in helping the Monmouth offense rank second in the nation in total offense (489.9 yards per game), scoring offense (39.0 points per game), and passing offense (332.5 yards per game). He helped pave the way for Robertson and Noth's record-breaking seasons that included the program's first victory over an FBS team when the Hawks knocked off FIU.
Wide receiver and return specialist
TJ Speight earned Second Team All-CAA honors as a kick returner and Third Team All-CAA honors as a wide receiver. Speight had 61 receptions for 896 yards and six receiving touchdowns, while also totaling 346 yards on 16 kickoff returns, including one touchdown. He was a dynamic all-purpose threat, finishing with 112.2 all-purpose yards per game, which ranked fourth in the CAA. Speight had three 100-yard receiving games, including a career-high 151 yards against No. 20/18 Stony Brook (11/23), and scored three total touchdowns in the homecoming victory against Bryant.
Defensive lineman
Isaiah Rogers earned Third Team All-CAA honors after starting every game and recording 50 tackles, including 19 solo stops, 1.5 tackles for loss, four quarterback hurries, and two pass breakups. Rogers had a standout season, highlighted by a career-high 11 tackles opposite Delaware.
Linebacker
Ryan Moran earned Third Team All-CAA honors after leading the Hawks with 85 tackles, including 40 solo stops and 5.0 tackles for loss. Moran was a dominant force on the defensive side of the ball, adding two quarterback hurries and two pass breakups. He recorded a season-high 12 tackles in the win over New Hampshire and finished the year with a team-high 11 tackles in the win at No. 20/18 Stony Brook. Moran started every game and was a team captain, helping anchor Monmouth's defense throughout the 2024 season.
Defensive end
Miles Mitchell earned Honorable Mention All-CAA honors after starting every game and totaling 30 tackles, including 16 solo stops, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. Mitchell also added four quarterback hurries, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. His standout performance came in the win at Rhode Island (11/2), where he forced a fumble and returned it 36 yards to disrupt a flea flicker. Mitchell followed that up with a season-high three tackles for loss, including a sack, against New Hampshire.
Tight end
Jack Neri also played a significant role in Monmouth's offense, earning Honorable Mention All-CAA honors. Neri totaled 32 receptions for 329 yards and five touchdowns, tying for third on the team in touchdowns. He had a season-best eight receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown in the win at Rhode Island. Neri was a reliable target throughout the season, including a career-long 40-yard touchdown reception on a trick play in the win at No. 20/18 Stony Brook (11/23).
