FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Graduate center Belle Kranbuhl and junior forward Ella Farrelly each recorded a double-double, but the Monmouth University Women's Basketball Team fell to the Sacred Heart Pioneers on the road, 63-56.

Kranbuhl was a force in the paint tallying 12 points, 12 rebounds, and adding a season-high six blocks, while Farrelly finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds – seven of which came in the first half. The two led the charge inside on both sides of the ball in a game that saw the Hawks outrebound the Pioneers and outscore them by 20 in the paint.

Monmouth trailed by only one at the end of the first quarter, 13-12, despite the Pioneers going 3-of-3 from three-point range while Monmouth went 0-of-3 in the first 10 minutes. The second quarter was highlighted by a Kemari Reynolds three, as well as Taisha Exanor hitting a driving layup at the buzzer to give the Hawks a 25-24 lead at halftime. Monmouth shot 42.3% in the first half, with Farrelly leading the Hawks offense with her 10 points.

Damaris Rodriguez got hot in the third and scored eight of her 17 total points playing the entire quarter. Another Reynolds triple at 2:30 saw the MU lead reach eight points, 41-33, but the Pioneers would push to get within five at the break.

Sacred Heart quickly tied the score at 43 early in the fourth, and after the teams traded four-point leads in a series of back-and-forth action, a jumper by Rodriguez and a pair of Exanor free throws pulled Monmouth within two with 35 seconds to play, 58-56. In the late game, the Pioneers were able to close out the Hawks by scoring the game's final five points with all coming at the foul line.
