FAIRFAX, Va. – The Monmouth University Women's Basketball team began its four-game road trip with an 89-66 loss at the hands of George Mason at EagleBank Arena on Tuesday evening.

Damaris Rodriguez led the scoring for the Hawks with a season-best 17, while Jaye Haynes knocked down a career high four triples and finished with 14 points.

Behind eight steals, George Mason used stout defense in the first half to carry a 21-point lead into the break, but Monmouth answered by scoring 11 of the game's 14 points to begin the third. A trio of Taisha Exanor free throws with 3:58 remaining in the third brought the game within 13. The Patriots, however, never relinquished the lead all game long.

Rodriguez scored 10 of her 17 in the fourth quarter, including going a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw stripe. Dayshawna Carter had a strong fourth, as well, adding seven points and two assists. George Mason only outscored Monmouth by two in the second half, 43-41.
