WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Senior Jania Hall scored the final four points of the game, including a pair of free throws with 7.8 seconds to play, to lead the Monmouth University women's basketball team to a 49-47 comeback win over Campbell University in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play on Sunday afternoon.

Campbell had the hot shooting hand to start the game as a pair of three-pointers from Shy Tuelle helped the visitors take a 13-0 lead with 6:41 left in the period. The Camels pushed their lead to 17-5 before Monmouth closed the first period on a 7-2 run and cut the Campbell advantage to 19-12 at the end of one.

Taisha Exanor scored five points in 26 seconds to start the second and cut the Campbell lead to two, 19-17 with 8:24 to go until the half. The Camels pushed their lead back to six, before the Hawks scored the final five points of the period and cut the deficit to one, 25-24 at the break.

Campbell opened the third quarter with a pair of three-pointers and led 31-24 with 9:07 showing on the clock. An 8-0 run by the Hawks gave Monmouth a 32-31 lead with 3:19 to go in the period. Kaci Donovan hit a three-pointer while Rosalie Mercille was 3-for-4 from the foul line in that stretch. Campbell scored seven of the final nine points in the period and took a 38-34 edge after three.

Monmouth opened the fourth quarter on a 7-0 run and took a 41-38 lead with 7:32 to go in the game. Campbell scored eight of the next nine in the game and led 46-43 with 2:55 to go. The two teams continued to battle before a driving lay-up from Hall with 57 seconds left tied the game at 47-47. A strong defensive stand by the Hawks got Campbell to turn the ball over with 35 seconds left. That set the stage for Hall to get fouled and drain two shots with 7.8 seconds left. Campbell's last second shot fell short, and the Hawks claimed the 49-47 victory.
