STATEN ISLAND, NY – Eight new marks were entered into the Monmouth University Track and Field all-time Top Tens record book following Saturday's Villanova Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.Â
Freshman Kat Gilbert led the Hawks with two new Top Ten marks, with the first coming in the women's 60m dash and the second in the women's 200m. Gilbert makes her debut in the MU record books after placing fifth in the final with a time of 7.73 - the ninth fastest time in school history. Gilbert posted an impressive fourth-place time of 25.38 in the 200m event, a mark that ranks 10th in program history.Â
Joining Gilbert on the women's side of the record book are Yasmeen Tinsley, who finished the 400m with a new personal best time of 55.37, and Vanessa Wood for her personal best 14.00m shot put mark. Tinsley now ranks fifth all-time amongst Hawks in the event, while Wood ranks sixth.Â
On the men's side, Ahmad Brock and Alexander Kislenko both impressed in the 60m dash. Brock recorded the top time in the preliminary round with a time of 6.83 - a time that is tied for fifth place all-time in school history. Kislenko, after setting a personal record at 6.91 seconds last week at the UPenn 10-Team Select Meet, crossed the finish line at 6.85 seconds which stands as the seventh fastest 60m dash time in school history.Â
Declan McDonnell and Aaron Guensch wrapped up the Top Tens with strong performances in the 1000m dash. McDonnell (fourth) and Guensch (11th) were two of five Hawks that placed inside the top-12 for the event. McDonnell's time of 2:24.60 ranks seventh in program history, while Guensch, a freshman, ranks 10th with a time of 2:27.99.Â
Overall, 19 competing Monmouth athletes placed inside the top five for their respective events.Â
