MONMOUTH EXTENDS WIN STREAK WITH VICTORY OVER LIONS

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – A pair of 20-point performances from Rosalie Mercille and Kaci Donovan helped the Monmouth University women's basketball team roll to a 91-51 win over Georgian Court on Monday afternoon. 
 
Monmouth recorded its fifth straight win, matching the longest win streak under head coach Ginny Boggess.
 
A pair of 7-0 runs helped Monmouth open up a 16-6 lead with 2:52 to go in the first period. A four-point play from Donovan and a three-point play from Sandrine Clesca allowed the Hawks to take a 23-11 lead after one.
 
A pair of three-pointers from Mercille gave Monmouth a 33-17 lead with 6:09 on the clock in the second. Mercille's third triple of the period pushed the home team's advantage to 41-21 with 3:47 to go until the half. A fast break lay-up from Mercille at the buzzer sent Monmouth into the break leading 51-27. 
 
Mercille had 16 of Monmouth's 28 points in the second period.
 
Monmouth opened the third quarter on an 11-0 run and led 62-27 with 6:50 left in the stanza. The two teams went back-and-forth as Ella Farrelly scored the Hawks' final seven points of the period. Monmouth led 77-40 with 10 minutes to play. 
 
The Hawks opened the fourth quarter on a 14-2 run and took their largest lead of the game, 91-42. Donovan had four points for Monmouth in that stretch. Georgian Court closed the game on a 9-0 run as Monmouth earned the 91-51 victory.

- Monmouth improved to 2-1 on the season versus teams from the state of New Jersey (wins-Rider, Georgian Court; loss – Rutgers).  
- The Hawks scored 91 points on the day. It was the most points scored by a Hawks squad under head coach Ginny Boggess and the most points scored by a Monmouth team in general since the 2007-08 squad had 91 against Princeton.
- The seven nonconference wins are the most under Boggess and the most regular season nonconference wins since 2010-11. 
- Belle Kranbuhl finished with seven steals in the game. It was a career-high for the senior and the most steals in a game for the Hawks since Niamh Dwyer had seven in 2005. It is also tied for sixth in single-game history at Monmouth. 
- Kaci Donovan's 20 points in the game was her second 20+ point performance of the season. She now has five career games as a Hawk with 20 or more points. 
- Rosalie Mercille finished with 20 points in the game. It was the second game of her career that she has scored in double figures in. 
- Jania Hall contributed 11 points and has scored in double figures in back-to-back games and five times this season. 

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Monmouth shot 38.8% from the field while Georgian Court shot 33.9% for the game. The Hawks hit eight three-pointers to the Lions' four in the game. 
- The Hawks made a season-high 21 free throws in the contest. That is tied for the most free throws made in a single-game under head coach Ginny Boggess. Monmouth's efforts were led by Kaci Donovan, who was 10-for-12 from the charity stripe.
- Monmouth dominated the rebounding battle, 61-29. Belle Kranbuhl had a season-high 12 rebounds while Divine Dibula added a career-high 10. It is the most rebounds by a Hawks team in a single-game in the last 10 years. 
- The Hawks scored 35 points off of 27 Georgian Court turnovers.

Monmouth is back in action on Friday, Jan. 5 as it begins its Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Title defense. The Hawks host William & Mary at 7 p.m. in the OceanFirst Bank Center.
