FINAL SCORE

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Ben Zakowski's penalty kick goal in the 47th minute proved to be the difference as the Monmouth University men's soccer team recorded a 1-0 victory over Saint Joseph's on Tuesday evening.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair as both teams had their chances, but neither was able to convert. Monmouth and Saint Joseph's went into the break knotted at 0-0.

The Hawks found a way to get on the board early in the second half as St. Joseph's was called for the handball in the box at 46:23. Zakowski converted the penalty kick opportunity by rifling a shot into the top of the net.

Monmouth maintained that 1-0 advantage over the remainder of the period and claimed the victory.
