FINAL SCORE
Monmouth 2 (2-1-2)
Le Moyne 0 (0-3-1)
Â
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. –Â
Ben Zakowski scored a goal in each half and the defense clamped down as the Monmouth University men's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over Le Moyne College on Tuesday night.Â
Â
The Hawks pushed the offensive tempo from the outset and Zakowski wasted little time in getting the home team on the board. Just 54 seconds into the game
Griffin Tomas found Zakowski streaking up the field and he powered it home.Â
Â
Monmouth continued to pressure the Dolphins and carried that 1-0 lead into the half. The Hawks outshot Le Moyne 9-5 in the first 45 minutes as
Eryk Dymora turned away the three shots he faced.
Â
The second half was much of the same as the Hawks pushed the tempo and pressured the Dolphins. Zakowski struck for his second of the day in the final five minutes of the contest off a pass from
Arturo McConnochie.Â
Â
That insurance goal closed out a 2-0 win. Dymora saved the ony shot the Dolphins managed to get on goal in the second half.Â

NOTES AND QUOTES
"It was nice to get off to such a positive start to the game. Give cred it to Le Moyne, who had a few unlucky moments after we scored our goal. We created a ton of goal scoring opportunities throughout the rest of the game and got the justified result.
Ben Zakowski had another fantastic night."
