WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University softball team earned a split versus Fairleigh Dickinson with a 6-3 win in game two on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Catcher Devin Coia led the charge offensively by going 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and three RBI in the victory.
 
In her third start of the season, Kelly Toomey earned her second win by going 6.0 innings, allowing one earned run on four scattered hits, and tying her season high in strikeouts with eight.

The Hawks jumped out to a first-inning lead on a Coia RBI groundout followed by a Kiley O'Rourke (1-for-3, RBI) two-out single to score Francesca Torraca (2-for-4, 2 R). Monmouth added onto their lead in the third when Torraca and Lexi Castaneda executed a perfect double steal. Coia then cranked her second homer of 2023 to right center to make it 5-0, Hawks.

Eve Serrato tacked on a solo home run to left in the fourth inning to extend the lead to six. Fairleigh Dickinson would push three across between the sixth and seventh innings, but Kylie Gletow came on to get the final three outs and preserve the 6-3 win for the Hawks.

In the game one loss, Billie Kerwood pitched a complete game and struck out eight FDU hitters, while allowing just two unearned runs.
