WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Baseball led after six innings, and
Phil Stahl had four hits, but one big inning sent the University of Delaware past MU Thursday, 14-8.
Eric Sabato also added three hits for the Blue and White.
MU scored in three consecutive innings, getting RBI singles from Sabato,
Mason Wolf and
Austin Denlinger to open a 3-0 lead. In that time,
Ryan Bearse threw two shutout innings and
Dante Ciaramella allowed just one run. Delaware used an 11-run seventh that included a grand slam from Aidan Kane to take the lead and more, leading 13-3 at the conclusion of the frame.
Monmouth got four back in the bottom half, with
Ben Winstead singling home a run before
Will Trochiano punched one to right to score two more. Each team scored in the eighth with Delaware ultimately taking it 14-8.
