WOMEN’S LACROSSE FALLS TO NO. 6 STONY BROOK

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Caitlin Colbert and Caroline Brennan scored two goals each to lead the Monmouth University women's lacrosse team in a 20-5 loss to No. 6/7 Stony Brook University in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action. 
 
Colbert and Brennan each had multi-goal games for the Hawks while Mya Brock added a goal and an assist. Jaden Hampel had five goals and an assist for Stony Brook while Ellie Masera added four goals, three assists and eight draw controls.
 
Stony Brook opened up a 7-1 lead after the first quarter and pushed the lead to 12-2 at the half en route to the win. Monmouth scored three of the five goals put on the board in the fourth quarter. 

NOTES 
- Monmouth was facing its third ranked team of the season and second in the top ten (Rutgers, Johns Hopkins, Stony Brook).
- It was the fifth meeting all-time between the Hawks and Seawolves and first. Since 2014. 
- The game featured a sibling show down as Monmouth's Caitlin Colbert took the field against younger sister Casey Colbert who plays for Stony Brook.

 NUMBERS CRUNCH
Caitlin Colbert made the first start of her career and responded with a career-high two goals in the game. 
- Caroline Brennan extended her point streak to 32 straight games with her two tallies on the day. Brennan now has 10 multi-goal games this season. 
- Ainsley Shilling picked up her first career point with an assist on Brennan's second goal of the day.
- Cassidy Orban led the Hawks with three draw controls on the day. She now has 76 draw controls on the season and 199 in less than two seasons with the Hawks. 
- Kennedy Fruit had five saves in mid-game relief work for the Hawks.

Monmouth is back in action on Saturday, April 15 when it travels to Towson for a 2:30 p.m. game.
