WOMEN’S LACROSSE FALLS AT TOWSON

TOWSON, MD – The Towson University women's lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead after the first quarter and earned a 21-14 win over the Monmouth University women's lacrosse team in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action on Saturday afternoon. 
 
Cassidy Orban recorded the 200th draw control in her Monmouth career while sophomores Maddie Flynn and Grace Curtin combined for five goals and two assists in the contest. Lindsay Marshall led Towson with five goals. 
 
Towson scored the first eight goals of the game and took a 9-2 lead after one period of play. Marshall had three goals in the stanza for the Tigers. Both teams scored four goals in the second period. Caroline Brennan had a pair of tallies in the quarter for the Hawks. 
 
The two teams continued to battle in the second half as Towson closed out the win. Flynn scored all three of her goals in the fourth quarter for Monmouth while Shea Berigan added a pair of second half tallies.

NOTES
- The game was delayed nearly two hours at the start as thunderstorms rolled through the area.
- The Hawks matched their season-high with seven free position goals in the game (7-at Georgetown).
- Monmouth had a season-high 16 saves in the contest. 
- The draw control battle was a close one as Towson held a 19-18 edge. 
- The underclassmen (freshmen and sophomores) accounted for 10 of the Hawks' 14 goals in the game. 

 NUMBERS CRUNCH
Cassidy Orban picked up the 200th draw control of her Monmouth career. She is the third player in program history to reach the mark, joining Megan Hart (294) and Kristina Vangeli (232). 
- Maddie Flynn had a career-high three goals, all of which came in the fourth quarter. 
- Grace Curtin returned to the line-up for the first time since Feb. 10 against George Mason and responded with two goals, two assists and five draw controls. 
- Kennedy Fruit had a career-high 14 saves in relief work in the game. 
- Brianna Falco had a season and team-high seven draw controls in the game. 
- Caroline Brennan extended her point streak to 33 straight games with her pair of goals.
