MEN’S LACROSSE FALLS TO TOWSON ON SENIOR DAY

FAIRFIELD, CT – The Monmouth University men's lacrosse team dropped a 15-11 decision to visiting Towson on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at Kessler Stadium.  

After Towson jumped out to a 5-0 lead, Monmouth trimmed the deficit to 6-3 prior to halftime. The Hawks kept within three after Cade Stratton scored with five minutes to go in the third, but Towson scored the next three and five out of six to put the comeback bid away.

The loss eliminated Monmouth from CAA postseason contention.

GAME NOTES
- Monmouth honored 11 seniors prior to the game. The Hawks recognized Michael Quigg, Matt Karsian, Connor Macrae, Jonny MacLean, Burke Webb, Thomas Gray, Matt Soutar, Jack Gertie, Cam Stovel, Cole Campbell and Perry Doran along with their families.
- The meeting was the first all-time between Monmouth and Towson.
- The Hawks wore their chrome helmets with white jerseys and white shorts.
 
NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Connor Macrae led Monmouth's offense with a hat trick. Macrae has 20 goals on the season and 56 in his career.
- Caden Kesselring had three points with two goals and an assist for the third straight game. Kesselring has seven goals and four assists this season.
- Ty Caffarelli had two goals and an assist, giving him 27 goals this season. His 27 goals are tied for third in a single season in program history.
- Cade Stratton had a goal and an assist in the game. Stratton increased his season total to 21 goals and he now has 62 goals in his career.
- Stratton's 33 points lead the team and are tied for fourth in a single season in team history.
- Burke Webb and Cole Campbell each added a goal and an assist in the game.
- Webb scored his fifth goal of the season and recorded his fourth assist.
- Campbell's points were the first of his career.
- Sean Ketchen scored his ninth goal of the year.
- Scooter Whiteside and Jack Gertie each added an assist in the game.
- Gertie's assist was the first point of his career.
- Matt Soutar won 17-of-29 faceoffs in the game and led the Hawks with eight ground balls. He became the first Hawk to pick up 100 ground balls in a single season and has 105 this year.
- Michael Quigg led Monmouth's defense with two caused turnovers. He leads the team with 15 caused turnovers this year
