PHILADELPHIA – The Monmouth University men's lacrosse team closed its 2023 season with a 16-7 setback to Drexel on Friday evening at Vidas Field.
Ty Caffarelli scored four times, including once late in the third quarter to pull Monmouth back within three, but Drexel's early 6-0 advantage was too much to overcome in the eventual nine-goal loss.
Andrew Kuhlman finished with 14 saves in goal for Monmouth as the Hawks completed their first season as a member of the CAA.
With the result, Drexel secured the No. 2 seed in the 2023 CAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament.

- The meeting was the first all-time between Monmouth and Drexel.
- The Hawks wore their chrome helmets with midnight blue jerseys and shorts.

Ty Caffarelli registered the fourth four-goal performance of his freshman season.
- Caffarelli finished the year with a team-high 31 goals, the second most in a single season in program history.
- Cafferelli also led the team in points with 35, good for fourth on the Monmouth single-season points list.
- Caffarelli scored once on the man-up unit, giving him six man-up goals this year which ties the single-season record shared by Anthony Sardo and Eamon Campbell.

Matt Soutar and
Burke Webb each added goals for Monmouth.
- Stratton ends his season with 22 goals and 34 points. His 34 points rank fifth and his 22 goals are tied for seventh on the Monmouth single-season lists.
- Stratton is second all-time in points (108) and assists (45) and third in goals (63).
- Webb scored his sixth goal of the season and his second in as many games.
- Soutar put in his fifth goal of the year and the seventh of his career.
- Soutar won 13-of-25 faceoffs in the game and led Monmouth with nine ground balls.
- Soutar finished the year at 56.7 percent on faceoffs, the third best single-season mark in team history.
- Ryan O'Rouke added two assists, his first-career multi-assist game. O'Rourke had 11 points (6G, 5A) this season.

Connor Macrae added one assist, giving him 25 points on the year (20 G, 5 A). Macrae and Bryce Wasserman are the only Hawks with multiple 20-goal seasons.

Matt Karsian had one assist, giving him 21 points on the season (12 G, 9 A).

Michael Quigg led Monmouth's defense with two caused turnovers. He led the team with 17 caused turnovers this year, tied for seventh on the single-season list. Quigg's 29 career caused turnovers are tied with Reed Zak for 10
th in Monmouth history.

Andrew Kuhlman made 14 saves in goal, giving him eight double-digit save games in 2023. His 148 saves rank fifth on the single-season saves list.
