WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – No. 23 Johns Hopkins raced out to a 6-1 lead after one period play and claimed a 20-6 victory over the Monmouth University women's lacrosse team on Tuesday afternoon at Kessler Stadium.Â

The Hawks got two goals from
Caroline Brennan and two assists from
Maddie Murphy in the contest. Eleven different Blue Jays scored at least one goal in the game and that group was led by Ava Angello, who had six.

Gia Mitchell made nine first half saves in the game but the Blue Jays opened up an 11-4 lead at the break en route to the win.
NOTES
-Â Monmouth was facing it's second ranked opponent of the season (Rutgers, Johns Hopkins).
- The 15 saves by the Hawks were the most by a Monmouth squad since the Hawks had 17 against Wagner in 2019.
- The loss snapped a four-game win streak for Monmouth and was the first time the Hawks had allowed more than 10 goals in a game since Feb. 18 against Navy.
- Monmouth had 20 ground balls in the game, it was the fourth time this season the Hawks had 20 or more ground balls.
