WASHINGTON, D.C. – A game of runs went to the home team as Georgetown scored nine times in the third quarter to take the lead for good in an 18-16 win over the visiting Monmouth University women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon at Cooper Field.

The Hoyas jumped out to an 8-4 lead with two minutes to play in the first quarter before Monmouth responded with a stretch of eight consecutive goals. Mya Brock scored four of her five goals during the run and Monmouth ultimately held a 13-9 edge at intermission.

Six straight goals from Georgetown and nine of out 10 overall gave the Hoyas a four-goal cushion heading into the fourth. Monmouth refused to go away and scored twice to trim the deficit to 18-16 with six minutes to play, but was unable to get any closer as Georgetown hung on for the two-goal victory.
