WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University women's lacrosse team outscored Sacred Heart University 9-3 in the second half and battled for a 13-9 win on Saturday morning in Kessler Stadium.

Seven Hawks scored in the game and six of those seven had two goals each.
Ella Spears led the way as she added two assists to go with her two goals and finished with four points while
Cassidy Orban had two goals and a season-high 12 draw controls. Emma Kittridge led Sacred Heart with three goals.Â

Sacred Heart outscored the Hawks 4-2 in the first period as Grace Reinold had a goal and two assists.
Mya Brock and Orban scored for the Hawks in the second period but the Pioneers still led 6-4 at the break.Â

Monmouth scored the first three goals of the third quarter and grabbed a 7-6 lead in the game. Sacred Heart briefly tied the game at 7-7 on a goal at 6:19. However tallies from
Danielle McNeely and
Shea Berigan to close out the quarter gave Monmouth a 9-7 lead.Â

Caroline Brennan and Spears each had two goals in the fourth quarter as Monmouth closed out a 13-9 win.
