Emmitsburg, MD – Senior midfielder Matt Karsian ripped home a goal from distance to lift Monmouth over Mount St. Mary's, 8-7, on Saturday afternoon at Waldron Family Stadium.
 
Mount used a six-goal second stanza to overcome a 5-2 deficit and take a one-goal advantage into the break. Connor Macrae and Ty Cafarelli each notched second half goals to set the stage for Karsian's heroics with 3:12 left in the first overtime. Senior Burke Webb recorded his first career hat trick in the first half to spur the Hawks' early advantage.

"Credit to Mount Saint Mary's for the way they battled throughout the game today. I'm sure it was a fun game to watch from the stands as both teams let their guard down at times and kept swinging which led to a back-and-forth affair. The staff are proud of the guys' grit and determination to play through adversity and when needed several guys stepped up and made plays.

On the Defensive side of the ball, Andy Kuhlman was great in the cage today, our defense played another strong game while our man down special teams delivered again.

- Burke Webb registered a hat trick in his first-career start. The three goals were the first of his career.
- Ty Caffarelli added two goals to push his 2023 total to 11. He has six in the last two contests and four straight multi-goal games.
- Connor Macrae added his 11th and 12th goals of the season and the 48th of his career, moving him into fourth all-time.
- Matt Karsian had a goal and an assist, including his second game-winning goal this season. Karsian has five goals on the year and 10 for his career.
- Luke Cole tied his career-high three assists.
- Andrew Kuhlman made 12 saves in goal for the Hawks and had five ground balls which led the Hawks.
- Matt Soutar was 9-of 18 on faceoffs.
- Caffarelli, Ryan Morris and Miles Edmiston each had a pair of caused turnovers.
