Monmouth (2-13, 2-1 CAA) - 1

HAMPTON, VA – After taking the first two games of the series, the Monmouth University softball team fell to Hampton by a final score of 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at the HU Softball Stadium.

The Pirates jumped out to a 2-0 lead with an RBI groundout in the first and a fourth inning solo shot. Monmouth cut the deficit in half when Emily Spencer doubled home Riley Riendeau, who set the table for the two-out rally with a two-bagger of her own.

Hampton answered by taking advantage of an error with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom half of the fifth to push its advantage to 4-1.
