SOFTBALL FALLS TO STETSON ON DAY THREE OF HATTER CLASSIC

FINAL SCORE
Monmouth (0-7) – 1
Stetson (7-4) - 6

DELAND, FL – Host-Stetson defeated the Monmouth University softball team by a final score of 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Hatter Classic in DeLand, FL.

The Hatters used a five-run bottom of the second to jump out to an early 5-0 lead. The Hawks quickly answered with a run of their own in the top of the third. After freshman shortstop Bri Lawson reached and stole second with two outs, fifth-year senior Francesca Torraca drove Lawson in with her second RBI single in as many days.

Stetson responded with a run in the bottom half of the fourth and eventually hung on for the 6-1 win, despite Briana Hoskins collecting her second hit of the season. Kylie Gletow relieved Emily Spencer in the second and finished the day allowing three earned runs on six hits over five innings, adding a strikeout.
