PRINCETON, NJ – The Monmouth University men's lacrosse team dropped a 22-9 decision to the No. 5/4 ranked Princeton Tigers in the season opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon at Sherrerd Field.
The Tigers built a 3-0 lead in the first four minutes and never trailed in the contest. Monmouth's
Cade Stratton scored a hat trick on the offensive end, while rookies
Ty Caffarelli and
Caden Kesselring each scored their first-career goals.
Monmouth used a three-goal third quarter run to pull back within single digits and made it 14-6 on
Sean Ketchen's goal, but Princeton erased all doubt of a comeback with a four-goal run of its own.
