MONMOUTH WBB HEADS TO ELON ON FRIDAY NIGHT

Kaci Donovan and the Hawks will look for their second win of the year over Elon on Friday night.

Opening Tip
• Coming off a thrilling win over Drexel on Sunday, the Hawks hit the road for three straight games, starting Friday at Elon.
• This is the second meeting of the season and second meeting all-time between the Hawks and the Phoenix. Monmouth won the first meeting, 64-56.
Ariana Vanderhoop scored 16 of her team-high 20 points in the second half to lead the Hawks over Drexel.
• Monmouth shot 50% from the field in the win over Drexel. MU improved to 3-1 on the year when it shots 50% or better.
Bri Tinsley connected on her 51st three-pointer of the season on Sunday. She is the 21st person in program history to hit at least 50 triples in a season.
• MU recorded the 596th win in program history on Feb. 12 against Drexel.
• The Hawks won the rebounding battle on Sunday against Drexel. Monmouth improved to 10-5 on the year when it outrebounds its opponents.
• Monmouth is now 6-1 on the year when it scores 70 or more points in game. The Hawks won Sunday's game, 70-66.
• The Hawks featured a balanced attack in their win over Drexel. All nine players who saw time in the game scored at least two points and grabbed at least one rebound.
• The Hawks are 1-0 while playing in the state of North Carolina this year (road win at UNCW on Jan. 22).
• The Hawks get back to work on Sunday, Feb. 19 when it visits North Carolina A&T.
 

10-FOR-50
Guard Bri Tinsley hit three three-pointers in Sunday's win over Drexel. That gave her 51 triples on the season and moved her into the top 20 for single-season three-pointers made at Monmouth. She is the 21st player in program history to make 50 or more three-pointers in a single-season.

CLEANING THE GLASS
Monmouth won the rebounding battle, 31-28 on Sunday against Drexel. Belle Kranbuhl led the way with seven rebounds in the contest. It was a balanced effort from the Hawks as all nine players who saw time in the game recorded at least one rebound. 

It was the 15th time this season the Hawks have won the rebounding battle. Monmouth is now 10-5 on the year when it wins the rebounding battle against its opponent. Monmouth comes into Friday's action ranked third in the CAA with a +2.7 rebounding margin.

SOLID SHOOTING
Monmouth has proven to have a solid shooting percentage throughout this season. MU shot 50% from the field in the win over Drexel. It was the fourth time this season the Hawks have shot 50% or better from the field in a game (3-1 in those contests). The Hawks are shooting 40.3% from the field entering play Friday. That ranks sixth in the CAA. Monmouth is 7-5 on the year when it shoots 40% or better from the field in a game. Belle Kranbuhl, Lucy Thomas, Ariana Vanderhoop and Kaci Donovan have all taken over 100 shots on the year and are shooting 40% or better for the Hawks this season. 

WE'VE GOT DOUBLE VISION
Monmouth placed three players in double figures in the scoring column against Drexel on Sunday. The Hawks improved to 6-2 on the year when three players reach that mark.

Ariana Vanderhoop led the way with 20 points in the contest. She has now scored in double figures in eight of her last nine games. Vanderhoop has also reached the double-digit mark in 12 games this season. Lucy Thomas finished with 15 points against the Dragons. She has struck for double figures in five of the last six games and 10 times this year. Kaci Donovan posted 11 points for the second straight game for the Hawks. She has reached double digits in three of her last four games and eight times this season. 

GETTING HOT
After losing three straight (Jan. 13-20), the Hawks have regrouped and won four of their last six contests. During that successful stretch, Monmouth is outscoring opponents by a +2.3 margin and outrebounding opponents by a +6.0 margin.Monmouth is shooting 41% from the field and nearly 80% from the foul line in that stretch. Four Hawks are averaging 10 points or better during that stretch and that group is led by Ariana Vanderhoop, who is averaging 15.3 points per game.

GOING DEEP
Monmouth connected on eight three-pointers in the win over Drexel on Sunday. Bri Tinsley led the way with three triples in the game while Ariana Vanderhoop connected on two. 

The Hawks have knocked down 175 three-pointers on the season. MU has made 57 more triples this season than their opponents. The Hawks are 8-4 on the year when they connect on eight or more three-pointers in a game. 

MISS ASSIST
The Hawks dished out 11 assists on 26 made baskets on Sunday vs. Drexel. Kaci Donovan had three assists while three other players each recorded two helpers in the contest. The Hawks have had at least one player with four or more assists in 19 of 24 games.

Monmouth comes into Friday averaging 13.04 assists per game, which ranks fourth in the CAA. The Hawks have recorded 15 or more assists in nine games. Bri Tinsley leads the Hawks in assists as she is averaging 3.8 assists per game. That ranks fifth in the CAA. She has seven games this season with five or more assists.

SCOUTING THE PHOENIX
Elon comes in with a record of 7-17 overall and had a two-game win streak snapped with an overtime loss to William & Mary last time out. Lenaejha Evans led the Phoenix in that game with 23 points and nine rebounds. Raven Preston leads Elon on the season with 12.7 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Evans is contributing 11.4 points per game.
