WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University women's soccer senior defender
Lauren Bruno earned Second Team All-Region from the United Soccer Coaches (USC).
Bruno earned East All-Region accolades for the second straight season. It is the 19th time in program history that the Hawks have had a player named second team all-region and it's the ninth straight year that Monmouth has had a player named to the second team.
"Lauren had a fantastic fall season leading our backline and starting our attack," said head coach
Kylee Flynn. "Lauren is a quality player on both sides of the ball and a true leader on this team. It is great to see her efforts recognized and rewarded at the next level."
The senior had a stellar fall for the Hawks as she was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Defensive Player of the Year and earned First Team All-CAA accolades.
Bruno started 18 games while leading the Hawks to a spot in the CAA Championship match. Bruno keyed a defensive unit that posted 11 shutouts, including seven straight to start CAA play. She and the Monmouth defense held 14 opponents to one goal or less on the scoreboard. Bruno took a lot of the free keys for the Hawks and registered a career-high three assists this season.
