PHILADELPHIA – The Monmouth University women's rowing team had its Freshman 8+ crew place second and earn silver medals on Saturday afternoon at the Head of the Schuykill Regatta.

The Hawks clocked in at 14:06.661, just five seconds behind Temple who took the top spot. Monmouth finished one second better than Fordham, and the trio was 35 seconds faster than the fourth place boat from Canisius. 

Monmouth had three boats in the Championship 4+ and had its "A" entry place 18th out of 52 competitors. In the Club Championship 8+, the Hawks took 14th and 24th, respectively. 

RACE NOTES AND QUOTES
"One of our goals for this weekend was to challenge the majority of the roster to race twice with a short turnaround in between races. They rose to the challenge, with the Freshmen 8+ delivering an impressive silver medal performance. In the afternoon we were forced to shuffle lineups considerably due to a few injuries and the whole group stepped up to post solid results in the Varsity 8+. Now we are looking forward to spending a few weeks focusing on making technical improvements and carrying them into the winter."

The Hawks have wrapped up their fall schedule. The annual winter training trip will be held in Orlando, FL from January 5-13.
