WBB HEADS ON THE ROAD TO VISIT STONY BROOK FRIDAY

Opening Tip
• The Hawks are back on the road to start this weekend of CAA play with a visit to Stony Brook.
• This is the sixth meeting all-time between the Hawks and Seawolves but first since 2013.
• Bri Tinsley led MU with a game-high 20 points against Elon last time out. It was her third 20+ point game of the season.
• Monmouth had nine three-pointers in the win over Elon. It was the 10th time this season the Hawks have hit eight or more three-pointers in a game.
• Antonia Panayides and Bri Tinsley each had four assists each in the Elon game. The Hawks have had at least one player with four or more assists in 13 of their first 15 games.
• Monmouth outrebounded Elon, 39-30 on Sunday afternoon. It was the 10th time this season the Hawks have won the rebounding battle.
• MU dished out 15 assists on 23 made baskets against Elon. It was the seventh time this season the Hawks had 15 or more assists in a game.
• Belle Kranbuhl recorded the 127th block of her career against the Phoenix. She moved into a tie for fifth on the career blocks list at Monmouth.
• Monmouth shot 41.1% from the field against Elon. The Hawks improved to 5-2 when they shoot 40% or better.
• Monmouth had five blocks in the win over Elon. It was the seventh time this season the Hawks have recorded five or more blocks in a game.
• Following the Stony Brook game, the Hawks return home to host Towson on Sunday, Jan. 15 for Community Day.

20-20 VISION
Bri Tinsley scored 17 points in the second half and finished with a game-high 20 points in the win over Elon on Sunday. It was Tinsley's third game this season with 20+ points and fourth by a Hawk (Lucy Thomas-NJCU). Monmouth is 3-1 this season when it has a player score 20 or more points in a game.

WELCOME TO THE BLOCK PARTY
Belle Kranbuhl posted two blocks in the win over Elon on Sunday. That gave her 31 for the season and 127 for her career. Kranbuhl moved into a tie with Erica Balman (2015-19) for fifth on the career blocks list at Monmouth. She needs 23 more blocks to move into a tie for fourth on the list. Kranbuhl is one of seven Hawks to record over 100 blocks in her career. 

FROM DOWNTOWN
The Hawks knocked down nine three-pointers in Sunday's win over Elon. Bri Tinsley  connected on four while Antonia Panayides added a pair from behind the arc. 

The Hawks have connected on eight or more three-pointers in a game ten times this season, including a season-high 11 three-pointers twice (Navy/BYU). MU is 7-3 on the season when hitting eight or more three-pointers. 

Monmouth holds down the top spot in the CAA while averaging 7.8 three-pointers a game this season. Tinsley, Jen Louro, Kaci Donovan, Panayides, Lovin Marsicano and Ariana Vanderhoop have all made 10 or more three-pointers so far this season.

CLEANING THE GLASS
MU won the rebounding battle against Elon, 39-30. Four different Hawks recorded at least five rebounds in that game. That group was led by Belle Kranbuhl, who had seven rebounds.

Monmouth is outrebounding its opponents by a +1.8 margin this season, which is tied for sixth in the CAA. The Hawks have outrebounded their opponents in ten games this season. Kranbuhl is averaging a team-high 6.5 rebounds per game while Lucy Thomas is adding 5.3 rebounds per game. Six Hawks have grabbed 40 or more rebounds so far this season. 

DON'T I KNOW YOU?
Friday's game reunites Bri Tinsley with a couple of familiar faces. Tinsley played with Stony Brook's Sherese Pittman during the 2021-22 season. Tinsley averaged 5.3 points per game with 52 assists that season while Pittman chipped in 1.2 rebounds per game. In addition Stony Brook head coach Ashley Langford was the James Madison associate head coach during the 2020-21 season when Tinsley was a junior.

NOT IN MY HOUSE 
MU has found success blocking the basketball throughout the first 15 games of the season. The Hawks have 61 blocks and are averaging 4.07 blocks per game. That ranks first in the CAA this season.

The Hawks are 7-3 this season when they record four or more blocks in a game. They had a season-high nine blocks in the win over NJIT. MU's efforts have been led by Belle Kranbuhl, who has 31 blocks so far this year, which ranks 18th nationally. Her 2.1 blocks per game is among the top three in the CAA this season. Kranbuhl is one of seven Hawks to record at least one block this season.

SOLID SHOOTING
Monmouth has proven to have a solid shooting percentage through the first 15 games of the season. The Hawks are shooting 40.0% from the field entering play this weekend. That ranks sixth in the CAA. Monmouth is 5-2 on the year when it shoots 40% or better from the field in a game.

Lucy Thomas, Lovin Marsicano and Belle Kranbuhl have all taken at least 65 shots on the year and are shooting 40% or better from the field.

MISS ASSIST
Bri Tinsley and Antonia Panayides led the Hawks with four assists apiece on Sunday versus Elon. The Hawks have now had at least one player with four or more assists in 13 of 15  games.

Monmouth comes into this weekend averaging 13.53 assists per game, which ranks fourth in the CAA. The Hawks have recorded 15 or more assists in seven games this year. Bri Tinsley leads the Hawks while averaging 4.1 assists per game. She ranks fourth in the CAA. 

SCOUTING STONY BROOK 
The Seawolves are coming off a tough loss to Drexel on Sunday. That loss snapped a five-game win streak for the Seawolves. Anastasia Warren leads Stony Brook while averaging 16.7 points per game. Sherese Pittman is contributing 13.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

Monmouth is back at it on Sunday, Jan. 15 when it hosts Towson at 1 p.m.
