MONMOUTH BASKETBALL DEFEATED AT HOFSTRA, 77-57

HEMPSTEAD, NY – Monmouth University Men's Basketball put two in double figures but were defeated at Hofstra University Wednesday, 77-57. Tahron Allen led MU with 13 points, while Myles Foster added 11.

Allen had 11 of his 13 in the second half and MU did not led Hofstra's margin grow above the final score of 20, with Andrew Ball knocking home a pair of second half threes. Jack Collins also had all seven of his points in the final 20 minutes.

Monmouth got off to a great start, using a quick 8-0 run capped by a breakaway dunk from Andrew Ball to lead 10-4 and force a Hofstra timeout. Myles Ruth drilled a three and Tahron Allen scored inside to increase the lead to 15-8 at 12:24, MU's largest lead of the period. The Hawk lead was six midway through the half when Jakari Spence netted a triple late in the shot clock. Hofstra posted a 13-0 run to lead by seven, but MU got that down to three ahead of the Pride finishing the half with an 11-4 push to take a 36-26 lead to the break.

NOTES AND QUOTES

"Hofstra's one of the better teams in the league, they have so many weapons. The thing that keeps showing up in this league is how big and strong guys are, and our kids get tired some nights. We can battle for a little while, and I was proud of our guys tonight. I was proud of how we started, we had the lead, Speedy called timeout but then we turn it over and they get comfortable." – Head Coach King Rice
