MONMOUTH DIGITAL NETWORK EARNS SPORTS VIDEO GROUP AWARD

ATLANTA – The Monmouth Digital Network earned its first Sports Video Group (SVG) College Sports Media Award, the organization announced at its annual college summit at the Omni Atlanta Hotel at CNN Center this week.

The Monmouth Digital Network (MDN) was recognized as an award winner for Outstanding Live Non-Game Production in the Collegiate Student – Athletics Supported division with its production of Monmouth University Football vs. Princeton Open.

"It is such an honor to win this award," Assistant AD for Live Broadcasting Andrew Kurtz stated. "The Monmouth Digital Network and our students strive for greatness every single broadcast and we are very fortunate to have fantastic student and upper administrative support of our operation."

"I would like to thank our fantastic student crew," Kurtz continued. "Every single MDN student, past and present, had a hand in what the Monmouth Digital Network has grown into today. I would also like to thank Director of Athletics Jeff Stapleton and Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs Greg Viscomi for allowing our production to succeed through their vision and support. Thank you to my colleagues here at Monmouth, broadcast teams and freelancers, as well as Trudy Parton and Charlie Parton '01HN, whose generosity allowed us to take the next step in our evolution with a first-class production facility for our students in the Parton Broadcasting Center. I am looking forward to continuing to work with our Monmouth students to provide them with a fantastic learning environment in the coming years."

To be eligible for Collegiate Student – Athletics Supported division awards, productions are funded and supervised solely by university employees. The production work is completed solely by students (undergraduate or graduate) who are enrolled part-time or full-time at that institution during the time period designated for the content to be produced to be eligible for the awards. In the case of the Live Game, Program or Event category, 80% of the production personnel must be students to be eligible.

Finalists were determined by The Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) with winners selected by a panel of judges. Monmouth's winning entry was nominated along with entries from Ball State University, Bethan Lutheran College, St. Cloud State University and the University of Miami (FL).

The award is Monmouth's first after being an eight-time SVG CSMA Finalist since 2017. Monmouth University Athletics has partnered with ESPN on broadcasts on ESPN3 and ESPN+ since the winter of 2014 and has produced content for 12 different sports throughout that time. During the 2021-22 academic year, MDN produced more than 70 broadcast on ESPN platforms.
